Deep-sea fishing in the Puerto Vallarta area varies depending upon the time of year. The summer and fall months tend to offer the best trophy catches, but the Pacific Sailfish is a year round resident so a billfish catch is possible all year round.
In the summer months, giant Yellowfin tuna are plentiful and a catch in the 400 pound range is not out of the question. Schools of smaller Yellowfin can be seen within the bay as well.
Dorado, or Mahi Mahi are generally present year round but the prime time to find them in quantity is after a hearty rain and under trash lines.
Both Blue and Black Marlin are found in our area. The best areas to fish for Marlin are La Corbeteņa or El Banco, pinnacles that rise from the depths and create a fabulous fishing ground for all species, particularly the giants.
The YOLARAY offers 8 and 10 hour charters. When the fish are within the Bay of Banderas then 8 hours will provide a very satisfying charter.
